all about me
I am originally from Chile, but have been living abroad for most of my adult life. Living so far away from home means constantly missing something or someone. Whenever I feel a bit homesick, cooking an old family recipe always cheers me up. All the familiar aromas and tastes bring me an instant slice of home. I also love being able to introduce all these flavours to my young children so they can grow up knowing and enjoying this important part of their heritage. Being able to share little pieces of my culture with the Bristol community is the (literal) cherry on top. Hope you enjoy having a little taste!
about my food
I enjoy cooking all sorts of food but have a special place in my heart for baking. I find it fascinating how you can make such a variety of preparations using the same four basic ingredients; flour, sugar, eggs and butter (five if you count chocolate!). Also, I have great memories of growing up around my grandmother’s kitchen where there was always something in the oven. I remember often being recruited to help crack eggs, knead dough or lick spoons! The base recipe I use for my lemon meringue pie I learnt from her.
I love to use Latin American ingredients, “dulce de leche” being a big favourite of mine: sweet condensed milk reduced slowly to caramelly deliciousness, there’s just nothing like it!
I'm looking forward to sharing my cakes with you and I'm happy to answer any questions you might have =)
Cheers!
