I am an African. With sunshine, wide open spaces and happy faces all around me whilst growing up I have the passion of Africa etched into my soul. I may have taken myself out of South Africa, but I will never be able to take South Africa out of me. Tastes and smells connect us to our earliest memories so it's no wonder that expats all over the world cook with love. I hope you enjoy my Saffa food - happiness in every bite!

The braai - or BBQ as it's known here - is the cornerstone of South African life. Kids swimming and running around the garden, Moms cooking and Dads tending the fire, it's like a sacred foodie ritual. The meat is often considered the star of the show, but it's actually all the side dishes and trimmings that make or break a braai - and which take the most effort! I love cooking these dishes as it transports me to my kitchen back home, to friends and flavours, and happy memories. And you don't need a braai / BBQ to enjoy them. Dig in and enjoy!
